Community Services Class Schedule

The Community Services Division of NW-SCC provides area companies and individuals with a wide range of technical training, administrative assistance, and personal development courses in the belief that learning is a life-long experience. Consisting of Continuing Education and Training for Business, this division is the flexible division of the college in providing the services not provided in the traditional education environment.

Northwest-Shoals Community College is your college. Its instructors and equipment are available for your use. Our facilities are available for your use in training with your instructor or by our staff. Contact the Training for Business and Industry Coordinators at 256-331-5289 on the Shoals Campus, or 256-331-6285 on the Phil Campbell Campus.

Training for Business & Industry
The Training for Business and Industry(TBI) Departments located at the Phil Campbell and Shoals Campuses work with area companies to meet specific training needs. If traditional classes, academic and/or technical, meet the employee development needs of a company, they are utilized. If traditional classes do not meet the needs, a TBI coordinator will work with the company representative to develop the training program, locate a qualified instructor to teach the class, and set the training to the company’s schedule. The coordinator will also monitor the class, along with company representatives, to make sure the employees are reaching the company's desired outcomes.

Contact the Training for Business & Industry at 256-331-5289 (Shoals) or 256-331-6285 (Phil Campbell).

Manufacturing Training Alliance
Working with the industrial manufacturers in our service area to provide worker training is the primary focus of the Training for Business and Industry Department. The Manufacturing Training Alliances of the Shoals and the Haleyville area are one way we are striving to provide this training. These Alliances consist of industrial representatives that understand the need for maintaining a well trained work force and training providers, Alabama Industrial Development Training, NW-SCC and the Area Vocational Centers. By working together, companies are able to meet minimum class sizes and obtain quality training locally at lower cost than sending employees off for training or by bringing in high-dollar consultants. For more information on the Manufacturing Training Alliance serving your area contact the NW-SCC TBI Coordinator or your local Economic Development Authority.

Computer Classes
Because of the increased use of computers in every aspect of the world of work, the TBI department has regularly scheduled classes in the most popular software. Meeting two one-half days, these classes can easily be worked into the schedule of most employees. Courses include keyboarding, word processing, spread-sheets, databases, and presentation packages. Private classes, at the college or at the company site, are also available if our scheduled classes do not meet your company's schedule.
