Scope of grant: I Improve number of students entering computer science, engineering, and mathematics curricula and obtaining degrees within those fields to maintain competitiveness of U.S. industry (in particular those industries in our service region).

(1) Scholarships of $3,125 to about 29 students per year (2) Technology Checkout Center for software, sophisticated calculators, VCRs, laptops (3) Interaction with local industry for summer internships (e.g., TVA, Whitesell, Wise Aluminum, and Marley Flexco); possible employment pool after students complete programs (4) Assignment of faculty mentors to students for better development and progress (5) Assist students with transfers to 4-year institutions
