This course is designed for anyone responsible for other people in a wilderness setting when a hospital is more than 2 hours away!  More than an advanced first aid class, the program is an intense introduction to the assessment and treatment of common injuries and illnesses associated with back-country travel.  It is a nationally recognized course with Department of Transportation certification.  The Alabama Board of Nursing has recognized this course for the award of Continuing Education Units.

Camp Westmoreland is located on Shoals Creek just off U.S. 72 five miles west of Florence.  Camping sites are available.  Students should be prepared to eat at local restaurants or cook at the camp.  Showers are located on site and laundry facilities are close by.

Cost will be the tuition amount for native students and $650 for non-native students .

The WFR is a joint project of the Outdoor Leadership Program and the Health Studies Division of Northwest-Shoals Community College.
