Phil Campbell Campus Alpha Zeta Iota Chapter

Phi Theta Kappa is an International Honor Society that has recognized academic excellence in the two-year college system since 1918 and has become the largest and one of the most prestigious honor societies in higher education. Alpha Zeta Iota, the Northwest Shoals Community College chapter on the Phil Campbell Campus, was chartered in May 1980.

The purpose of the Alpha Zeta Iota chapter is to recognize and encourage academic scholarship among Northwest Shoals Community College students. Working toward this goal, the organization provides opportunities for the further development and expression of the four Phi Theta Kappa Hallmarks: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship. It’s a great feeling when you are involved in campus life and are giving something back to the community, and being an active member of Phi Theta Kappa will provide you with the opportunity to do just that.

Membership is offered to any student who has completed 12 semester hours of associate degree work with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. There is a one-time, lifetime membership fee of $65 that pays for your induction into Phi Theta Kappa, the prestigious Gold Key lapel pin, and a gold-embossed personalized commemorative certificate of membership.

Phi Theta Kappa members have an opportunity to graduate wearing a special honor society stole and tassel at the commencement exercise and have their diploma and transcripts marked with the Phi Theta Kappa seal.  Phi Theta Kappa membership is by invitation only to those who qualify.

Our sister chapter is Alpha Sigma Beta at the Shoals campus.
