Applying for FAFSA

To apply for Federal Assistance, students file a FAFSA online at www.studentaid.gov.  After the FAFSA is processed, a Student Aid Report (SAR) is issued with the student’s Expected Family Contribution.

  • 2023-2024 FAFSA (Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and Summer 2024) requires 2021 Tax Return Information.
  • 2024-2025 FAFSA (Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025) requires 2022 Tax Return Information. (Please note: the usual FAFSA opening date of October 1st will be delayed for the 2024-2025 FAFSA, so please check www.studentaid.gov for updates on when it will be available.)

To ensure financial aid is processed prior to the beginning of classes, a FAFSA should be completed two (2) months before the next semester begins.  Applying early will help ensure a timely response to federal guidelines and resolution of any unforeseen problems/situations that may occur.  Applying early will also help the student avoid potential long lines or waits. If you have special or unusual circumstances that may affect your eligibility for financial aid, please contact the Student Financial Services Office for more information.

Please Note: For 2023-24, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool is the best way to report tax return information on the FAFSA.
