FEBRUARY 20, 2025 – MUSCLE SHOALS & PHIL CAMPBELL, ALA. — Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) sees continued growth of almost 11 percent in enrollment for the Spring 2025 semester. Total credit student enrollment has reached 4,719 students, up from 4,258 students in the Spring of 2024.
NWSCC President expressed his excitement in the College’s continued growth in enrollment. “I believe this is a testament to the dedication of our faculty and staff, as well as the trust our students place in Northwest Shoals to help them achieve their educational goals,” said Goodwin. “We are committed to providing all our students, from those dual enrolled while in high school to those being trained or retrained for our local workforce, with the highest quality education and training possible. I think this growth reflects the impact we are making.”
The College experienced a substantial 15 percent growth in dual enrollment, reflecting NWSCC’s strong partnerships with local high schools. “We are so fortunate to have great high schools in our area that are always looking for opportunities to help their students prepare for life after high school,” stated Casey Eggleston, NWSCC Assistant Dean of Dual Enrollment. “Whether it is career technical training, academic courses or health studies options, we want to offer high school students the ability to get a jump start on their career goals.”
Additionally, NWSCC has experienced a nearly 21 percent increase in students taking the hybrid enrollment approach, taking courses online and on-campus. “Northwest Shoals recognizes that our students have very busy lives, and we want to provide opportunities for all students to excel in their career paths,” said NWSCC Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Crystal Reed. “We work carefully to create course schedules to fit our students’ educational needs and life circumstances.”
NWSCC saw an increase in students taking only online courses as well as key career technical courses on-campus. Students taking online only courses saw an increase of 25 percent over last year. On-campus career technical programs saw their largest increase in Design Engineering Technology (up 61%), Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) (up 35%). Also, three other programs saw notable increases over last spring: Child Development (up 32%), Carpentry (up 31%), and Salon and Spa (up 11%).
