NWSCC Ready to Work Instructor Leigh Waters works with her online students

MUSCLE SHOALS, ALA. — The Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) Ready to Work (RTW) program has added a new online program to better serve the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new six-week RTW online program began on Monday ((4/6). Since the program began, the RTW program has enrolled 36 students in the class. According to NWSCC Ready to Work Coordinator, Crissy Broadway, the RTW online program uses a variety of online tools to instruct students. “Students are primarily being served in the Google Classroom platform,” said Broadway. “However, instructors are connecting with students via phone, FaceTime, Zoom, GroupMe, Facebook, and Google Duo.”

In the online format, students receive a syllabus that outlines the online program in six weeks. It offers videos of the instructors teaching RTW modules, the ability to participate in mock interviews virtually, and videos from the Adult Education Career Navigator regarding interview tips. Only the ACT WorkKeys testing component cannot be completed online at this time. It must be proctored in-person.

Upon successful completion of the RTW program, students earn a National Career Readiness Certificate (commonly referred to as WorkKeys), Alabama Certified Worker Certificate, and a FREE college course at NWSCC.

Register today for the RTW online program by contacting Crissy Broadway, RTW Program Coordinator, at cbroadway@nwscc.edu.
