MUSCLE SHOALS & PHIL CAMPBELL, ALA. — Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) students Hannah Foster and Alana Jenkins were named as two of 46 students in the state to the 2023 All-Alabama Academic Team. They were honored today (4/14) during a recognition program in Birmingham, Ala.

Foster and Jenkins will each receive a $500 scholarship for being selected to the All-Alabama Academic Team.
Foster, a Haleyville resident, she plans to apply to the physical therapist assistant program at Wallace State Community College. After receiving her license, her goal is to work with different cultures and communities traveling.
Jenkins, a Russellville resident, she plans to attend the University of North Alabama and earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Her goal is to teach children grades K-6th grade.
The faculty and staff of NWSCC nominate students for the All-Alabama Academic Team. The criteria for selecting students is to choose students who “excel academically; demonstrate intellectual rigor in their course of study; show academic growth and potential; and use their two-year college education to better themselves, their schools and their communities.” Each community college in Alabama has two representatives.
The Alabama College System’s All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program was established in 1995 as an enhancement to the All-USA National Academic Team Recognition Program, which is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the American Association of Community Colleges and USA Today.
