MUSCLE SHOALS, ALA. – Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) will feature an I HAVE A DREAM Unity Celebration on the Shoals campus to commemorate February as Black History Month.
Tuesday, February 5th, the NW-SCC Cultural Affairs Committee will hold an I HAVE A DREAM Unity Celebration on the Shoals campus at 12:15 p.m. in the Hospitality Center. The event will feature an inspirational message from Dr. Gale Satchel and include music by the NW-SCC Chorale, Jayla Green, and Howell Sledge (son of music legend, Percy Sledge).

Dr. Gale Satchel is the superintendent of Colbert County Schools. She has worked in education for several years and held positions such as Director of Federal Programs of Colbert County Schools, pre-kindergarten program director, and academic and career technical guidance counselor.
Dr. Satchel earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University, Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin, Education Specialist Degree from the University of North Alabama, and Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. She serves on several non-profit boards including Listerhill Credit Union, Helen Keller Birthplace Foundation, and Helen Keller Hospital.
NW-SCC will host a similar event on the Phil Campbell campus Tuesday, February 19th. Details will be released as the event is finalized.
