Event: Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) Adult Education Program will hold the 2017-2018 GED/Nontraditional High School Graduation ceremony today, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in the Patriot Center (Gym) on the Shoals Campus.
According to the NWSCC Adult Education Program, 81 students have completed requirements for their GED during the 2017-2018 year. An additional 42 students have completed requirements for the nontraditional high school diploma. Approximately 57 students plan to participate in graduation ceremonies Thursday.
The nontraditional high school diploma was rolled out by the state at the end of 2016. The nontraditional high school diploma helps students who either dropped out of high school without earning the necessary credits to graduate or did not pass one or all parts of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (which is no longer given).
When: The graduation ceremony will be held Thursday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. with a reception preceding the event for the graduates and their families.
