NWSCC to host Machinist Apprenticeship Program Signing Day on Thursday (11/21) November 19, 2019

Event: Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC), partnering with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) District 711, Local 65, will hold a signing ceremony for the second class of 10 machinist apprentices Thursday, November 21, 2019, on the Shoals campus.

Who: The machinist apprenticeship signing ceremony will feature the ten selected apprentices, College representatives, IAMAW representatives, and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Power Service Shop representatives.

What: The IAMAW Machinist Apprenticeship Program at NWSCC is a non-credit pathway to a challenging and well-paying career as a machinist for the TVA Power Service Shop in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Program apprentices will begin a four year training program that includes 1,200 hours of classroom training and 6,400 hours of on-the-job training. This is the second class of students to start this apprenticeship. The inaugural class started in December of 2018.
