The Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) 2022-2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. Commencement will be held outdoors on the NW-SCC Shoals Campus located at 800 George Wallace Blvd, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Ceremonies will be held at the following times:
- 11:00 a.m. (Nursing Pinning Ceremony ONLY at Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals, AL)
- 6:00 p.m. (Commencement for all graduating students)

How long is the ceremony?
The ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm. The ceremony will last up to an hour to one hour and thirty minutes.
Where will the ceremony take place?
Shoals Campus- Front lawn lot beside the Library
What should I wear?
Each graduate will be required to purchase their cap, gown, and tassel. Underneath your gown we recommend business professional attire such as dresses, dark pants, and dress shoes. Cap decorations are allowed, but must be respectful. Honor cords and sashes are available for purchase.
Where do I park?
Parking lots around building 120, 110, and College street lots. Graduates will receive a parking guide by email.
Is it outside?
Yes, please consider the weather. Water and fans will be provided to the graduates.
Is there a rain location?
Yes, the rain location is the Patriot Center Gymnasium. Check our Facebook page for updates.
Will any streets be closed to traffic?
Yes, Alumni street on campus will be closed at 4:30 pm.
If I have questions at the ceremony, who do I ask?
NW-SCC Ambassadors and graduation staff will be stationed throughout the graduation area.
What if I am running late for the ceremony?
All graduates must be lined up by 5:40 pm to participate in the ceremony.
Will graduates rehearse the ceremony?
No. graduates will receive detailed instructions by email.
Will I receive my diploma at graduation?
Information will be provided in your diploma cover at the ceremony
Do you offer special accommodations for those with disabilities?
Yes, graduates should indicate special accommodations needed in the graduation registration form. Handicap parking and seating for guests will be available.
What time should graduates arrive?
Where do I go when I arrive on campus?
Graduates report to the check-in table by the fountain at 5:00 pm. Faculty report to the library at 5:00 pm
Can graduates leave the ceremony early?
No. Please respect all graduates by remaining in your area until the ceremony concludes.
Can I decorate my cap?
Yes, cap decorations are permitted. Any decorations must be tasteful and respectful.
What are NW-SCC Guest policies?
No restrictions on the number of guests. Limited seating will be available; however, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. NW-SCC is a smoke and tobacco-free campus. Alcohol is also not permitted.
Will handicap accommodations be available?
Yes! Parking and transport accommodations will be available. Indicate this need to a college official upon arrival.
What time should guests arrive?
Will there be photography at graduation?
Yes! There will also be an area for individual/family photos.
Can I order pictures from the ceremony?
No. However, photos will be available online for download.
Will the ceremonies be live-streamed for viewing via the web or TV?
Yes, check the College Facebook page for the live stream of graduation.
Can I order a recording of the graduation ceremony?
No. The ceremony will be live-streamed on Facebook.
What if I am running late?
If you arrive after 6 pm, please utilize the parking lot in front of building 110, to minimize distractions as you walk to the ceremony.
Can I bring posters, flowers, or balloons for my graduate?
Yes; however, releasing balloons is prohibited due to safety hazards.
