Welcome Patriots! Fall Classes Start August 20.
Whether it’s your first semester or you’re returning to campus, we want you to start strong. This page has all you need to be First Day Ready—from paying tuition and logging in to your classes, to finding your books and getting connected. Let’s make this your best semester yet!
1) GET CONNECTED WITH TECHNOLOGY
Set up Your Alabama.edu Student Email
Claim your account to login! Information on how to access your account can be found at https://nwscc.edu/mynw-scc/.
Find other tools at Northwest Shoals that will help you be successful, particularly in online classes.
2) PREPARE FOR DAY ONE
Get Books and Course Materials
Purchase books at the bookstore located on the Shoals Campus or order online. If you are paying with financial aid, book buying days run from August 20 – 29.
If you are driving to campus to take classes, you will need a parking decal. This was included in your tuition and fees. Complete the online parking permit request form then come to campus and show your driver’s license to be issued a decal.
3) TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS –Does Not Apply to Dual Enrolled Students
Login to your myNWSCC Experience Portal to view your balance. You can also pay your balance over time by enrolling in the payment plan.
Check Your Financial Aid
If you are eligible for financial aid or were awarded a scholarship, make sure all requirements are fulfilled in the myNWSCC Experience Portal.
Submit Missing Documents
You may still need to submit final high school or transfer transcripts to finalize your admissions file.
HELPFUL TIP #1 – CLASS ABBREVIATIONS ON YOUR SCHEDULE
M = Monday, T = Tuesday, W = Wednesday, R = Thursday, F = Friday
A TR class meets on Tuesday and Thursday. Although the official first day of the term is on Wednesday, August 20, if your course does not meet on a Wednesday, you do not need to attend class until the first day it meets.
HELPFUL TIP #2 – CLASS ATTENDANCE & NO SHOWS
You must attend class and/or complete an initial attendance assignment, or you will not be able to remain in the course. If you think you will miss the first day(s) of your class, whether in-person or online, please contact your instructor immediately so that you do not get dropped from your course.
